About Me

Ok, so you are here now so I had better tell you why I think you should use me to help you with your vehicle!

I am a “Time Served” UK Qualified Motor Vehicle Engineer with over 35 years of vehicle repair experience behind me. I have experience in every type of repair in light commercial and motor vehicle repair and maintenance. I have even worked for race teams in the UK (Beetle Cup Challenge & Stock Car Racing).

Most recently, I owned and ran Swansea Tyre, Clutch and MOT Centre (obviously based in Swansea, South Wales). This was a multi award-winning motor vehicle repair shop and MOT test centre. We were both RAC and AA Approved, and even won the 2017 AA Garage of the Year award for South Wales!

My Approach to customer satisfaction and transparency during any quoting or diagnostic explanation is why we won so many awards in the UK. Initially, I moved back to Lanzarote (as I have lived here on and off since 1997) to semi-retire and take up my hobby of sailing. However, due to COVID and other issues I decided to open a couple of bars (Coyote Bar & McAllister’s) however, due to conrtactual differences (McAllister’s) and a lack of employable people (Coyote) I have decided to go back to my roots. However, both bars became renowned on the island for good customer service and fantastic service.

Commitment to Customer Service

Customer service and giving correct advice and help is my number one priority. One of the reasons I have decided to offer this service is due to my own personal experiences with mechanics and workshops on the island. Without mentioning names, I found the customer service and overall experiences absolutely terrible. From bad communication to complete rip-offs I have witnessed it all. I do not believe in a “that will do” attitude and to be blatantly lied to regarding repairs is not acceptable. I believe that any customer, whether they are having a simple tyre pressure check, to a full engine rebuild, should be treated the same. I therefore will be implimenting my award winning customer serivce here in Lanzarote when dealing with any vehicle repair customer.

Quoting on Repairs

You will always be given a full written quote for any maintenance or repairs needed on your vehicle. There is always the possibility that your vehicle may need some unexpected repair or part replaced in addition to the quote given. If this is the case you will have a full explanation and as much video/photo evidence of this as possible (see transparency below). 

Repair times and costs are equated using industry standard guides (Autodata Repair Times) this is expensive software that calculates each repair ensuring I do not overprice any of the services I offer. This also ensures that I do not under-estimate any work needed, meaning no nasty surprises for you or I! For clarity, I charge €50 for the first hour then €40 per hour labour on all work (except fixed price services which you can see on this link).

Transparency

Every vehicle I work on will be treated the same. You will have detailed video and images of anything that requires work. You will be given a WRITTEN quote for all work needed and all repairs will be fully explained BEFORE any work is carried out in layman’s terms so you completely understand the reason for the repair and the issues that can arise if the repair is not carried out. Where possible, you will have the old parts shown to you and you can even take them with you if you like. All vehicles will have a full checkover and any “Advisories” explained to you either by phone (WhatsApp) or when you collect/are delivered the vehicle.

Workmanship

Every vehicle I repair comes with a 2000km workmanship warranty. Now, warranties and guarantees are hard to understand normally, but I will make it clear here. If your vehicle should fail due to any mistake or failure during the repair by ME I will repair the vehicle FREE OF CHARGE within 2000KM. This includes any related damage that may occur due to negligence on my behalf. This is your STATUTORY right so, if you have had a repair elsewhere and they have damaged your vehicle, please be aware that you have this right with them as well (they may just not agree to the repair and then starts the long process of court cases etc.)

Parts

Because I do not manufacture parts, I cannot be held responsible for their failure (if this happens). I always chose suppliers on their quality of parts and the warranites they offer on parts. It is impossible to guarantee parts out of their normal warranties and should the part fitted to your car fail, I will be able to claim under the parts warranty with the supplier direct. This can sometimes be a quite lengthly process but I am commited to ensure that we always get a resolution you will be happy with. Obviously, any parts supplied by yourself or used parts will not be covered by any warranty.
